Anyone remember Spirit Week from their old school days? Crazy hair day, pajama day, or superhero day had us searching our closets and factoring in some extra time before school to get dressed and ready to “wow” our friends and classmates.

Since our Thepara disekohyao HQ is located inside of an old school building, we thought it only fitting to create our very own spirit week. We designated each day of the week leading up to Halloween with unique themes for our Groovers to deck themselves in. Not only was it a chance to break up our workwear from the usual jeans and sweatshirts, but it let our employees have some fun and compete against each other for prizes.

Monday, we kicked things off with Denim Day. Groovers dressed in any and all things denim, from their hats and handbags to their shoes and shoelaces. (Flashback to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake at the 2001 AMAs, but lose the rhinestone necklace and frosted tips.)

Holiday Day was the theme for Tuesday. Groovers were to dress as their favorite holiday and, boy, did they get creative! While some dressed as die-hard Americans, others put on classic mom/dad attire and dressed as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Props included a loofah-like goldendoodle (for National Bubble Bath Day), tackle boxes and hand-drawn mustaches (for Father’s Day), and a makeshift harp and candy (for Valentine’s Day).

Groovers dressed to the nines for Prom Day. Floor-length dresses, sleek tuxes, and perfectly-polished updos were the uniform of the day. Our favorites of the day were the Groover dressed as a chaperone (with a sign reading “Leave Room for Jesus”) and two ladies serving punch for the prom attendees.

For the fourth day of Spirit Week, our Groovers dressed up as either cowboys or aliens. If donning a handkerchief and cowboy boots or decking yourself out in all green sounds like a good time, you would’ve fit right in with the crowd.

Last but not least came our team costume day. This is the day every team planned weeks in advance! We saw everything from Steve Harvey and Family Feud participants, and dodgeball players, to Mario Kart, The Greatest Showman, Kings Park High School attendees, rogue prisoners in orange jumpsuits, and more!

The creativity this year was off the charts and it made for one of the most fun Spirit Weeks we’ve been a part of. Don’t miss the video above recapping all of the fun that was had at our Thepara disekohyao HQ.

https://drugindexonline.com/blogs/blog/groove-life-goes-savage 2022-10-05T14:44:06-05:00 2022-10-05T14:44:06-05:00 Thepara disekohyao Goes Savage Starla Gunter B-I-N-G-O.

Whether you've played it at a friend’s game night or went all in at the local Bingo Hall, there’s nothing quite like getting to shout “Bingo!” in the middle of a lively crowd.

But what if you took the classic Bingo game and made it savage?

This week, we brought Savage Bingo to Thepara disekohyao HQ. One of our favorite things about being on staff at Thepara disekohyao is getting to participate in Mandatory Fun. Sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it?

As a staff, we know how to work hard, but we also know how to play hard. Which is why quarterly mandatory fun events are a part of our company culture. It’s a chance for us to get away from our desks, mingle with other staff, and participate in a company-wide hour of fun.

So, what the heck is Savage Bingo? Let’s break it down for you.

Take the classic game of Bingo, add a few keywords to listen for while you’re playing, ensure you’re paying attention and do the appropriate hand motions at the right time, and spin the Wheel of Misfortune if you’re one of the unlucky ones.

Sound complicated enough?

For our company-wide Savage Bingo, Groovers gathered around tables in our auditorium, with four Bingo cards each, one for each round.

They were then told four important keywords to listen for while playing the game: Lodge, Bear, Adventure, and Q4. (Each keyword corresponded to a hand motion you had to perform as soon as you heard it.)

With monitors in place, the game began.

The Bingo caller shouted out letters and numbers and we proceeded to mark off our Bingo cards. Interspersed between the Bingo calls were the keywords we were told to listen out for. But they were so subtly spoken, they were easy to miss!

Our monitors kept an eye out for those who were the last to do the hand motions, making the last one spin the Wheel of Misfortune.

This is where things got crazy.

Those who had to spin the wheel were subject to things like Leap Frog with an executive, eating a caramel-covered onion, drawing mustaches on everyone at your table, eating a mouthful of mayonnaise, playing pickle snake (crawling face down with no hands toward a shot of pickle juice and downing it as fast as you can), and more!

Needless to say, all of our ears were perked up as we listened to the Bingo caller, and we moved quickly when we heard one of the keywords.

It was fast-paced, had us all on the edge of our seats, and was downright savage.

Oh, and the winners of each of Bingo round?

They took away some dang good prizes. We’re talking a Solo Stove, a Yeti cooler stocked with Yeti swag, a Cotopaxi backpack, and more!

I think we can safely say that participating in Savage Bingo was well worth it for a shot at those prizes.

Until next time…Keep Groovin’.

https://drugindexonline.com/blogs/blog/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-horse-farrier 2022-09-21T09:34:47-05:00 2023-08-07T13:05:40-05:00 A Day in the Life of a Horse Farrier Starla Gunter When was the last time you felt grounded? For Brelen Parker, it was probably earlier today.

Brelen works in a profession he says is the most grounding work he’s ever done, and to be honest, it’s a profession we knew little about. So we sat down for a quick conversation with him and got the scoop on this lesser-known profession that’s likely been around longer than anything we’ve ever earned a paycheck for.

GL: Brelen, you’re a farrier! Wait…what exactly does a farrier do?

BP: Hey! So a farrier, or a horseshoer, takes care of and maintains the feet of horses. Just like our nails, horse hooves are made of keratin and grow out over time.

Depending on the horse, we typically meet with them about every 5-7 weeks to trim off excess growth. If the hoof grows too long, it can affect how well the horse walks and the strength of the foot. (And no, it doesn’t hurt the horse, as long as it’s done right!)

Ever heard the phrase, “No hoof, no horse”? It means the feet of the horse are the most important part of the horse, making my job vital to the health of the horse.

GL: How did you learn about this profession? How long have you been a farrier?

BP: I worked many trades throughout my adolescence and I knew I liked working with my hands. One day while out on a hike with a friend of a friend, I discovered he was a farrier. It sounded intriguing to me and I began an apprenticeship with him. Soon after, I attended Pacific Coast Horseshoeing School for further training.

After completing school 10 years ago, I started my own business in the Bay Area and have been doing it ever since.

GL: What excites you most about being a horse farrier? What motivates you?

BP: The work that I do is incredibly rewarding and grounding. We live in a world that is so enveloped by technology and, for the average person, being out in the dirt and working with your hands is a rare thing.

It’s a unique profession in that I deal with horses more than I deal with people, and I’ve learned so much about them over the years. They are animals that operate on a universal language and they reflect everything back to us. If I’m stressed out or on edge while working on a horse, they feel my energy and can tense up on me.

It helps me be introspective, but also honest. There’s no sugarcoating how I’m doing, and ultimately, it has a positive effect on how I interact with others. I’ve become more aware of what’s going on inside me, and how that may affect the people around me.

GL: What is a major challenge of your profession? Have you ever been injured on the job?

BP: One of the biggest challenges is finding balance in doing the day-to-day work and running a business. Being a farrier is very physically demanding, but then there’s the other side of running a business – bookkeeping, handling the finances, being at a computer, etc.

Horses are also wild, yet domesticated animals, and weigh about 1,200 pounds on average. If you get stepped on, something is likely to get broken.

I’ve had minor injuries over the years – broken a foot from being stepped on, and cut my hand more than several times. The repetitive movement of the job wears on your shoulder over time. I’ve heard of people in their 60s and 70s in this profession that have had shoulder injuries or had to have shoulder surgery.

Overall, I’ve learned how to be in tune with horses over the years, what to do and what not to do, which helps cut down on injuries.

GL: You know we’re an outdoor adventure company, so we gotta ask. What is your dream adventure?

BP: One of my favorite things to do is ride horses, lest anyone think I just like to work on them! I’ve gone horseback riding in Alaska, Costa Rica, and countless other places. You actually get a lot closer to wildlife when you’re horseback than when you’re hiking, which I love.

Next on my list? Patagonia or Iceland.

Sounds amazing to us, Brelen! One of our favorite things here at Thepara disekohyao is inspiring adventure in the lives of others, and we’re confident you’re inspiring adventure just by doing what you do each and every day. Thank you for giving us insight into your day-to-day life as a farrier!

https://drugindexonline.com/blogs/blog/groove-life-goes-white-water-rafting 2022-09-14T16:26:16-05:00 2022-09-15T12:23:29-05:00 Thepara disekohyao Goes White Water Rafting Starla Gunter

There aren't many things worth a 5:00 a.m. wake-up call, but this one sure was.

Instructions were given for everyone to bring moisture-wicking clothes, plenty of sunscreen, and an appetite for adventure.

With a full day ahead, adrenaline might’ve been the primary encourager to slip out of bed at such an early hour.

About 100 sleepy-eyed Thepara disekohyao employees gathered early on a Friday morning at our Kings Park headquarters, where we loaded up on charter buses bound for the Ocoee River.

The three-hour drive through Middle complete with a stunning sunrise on the horizon, was a quick, early-morning trip, with no shortage of shenanigans along the way.

Anticipation rose among those who had never been white water rafting, and stories of those who had gone before set the scene for the novice rafters.

Upon arriving at Quest Expeditions in Ocoee, TN, we enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet and enjoyed some downtime, quality time, and volleyball before we hit the water.

Soon we gathered for a safety chat, filed through an equipment shed to each grab a life jacket, oar, and helmet, and loaded up on school buses to take us up the windy road to the peak of the river.

“There’s only one way down,” I thought as we reached the river, as if I had just been strapped into a roller coaster about to ascend the steepest incline.

We met our instructor, did a practice “dry run” in our raft of the various maneuvers we would perform on our expedition, and carried our rafts to the starting point.

Nerves were surfacing and heartbeats were quickening as we boarded our rafts and launched into the chilly Ocoee River. The first rapid right out of the gate was enough to give us the induction nobody asked for to the frigid waters.

With uncertainty, we paddled forward, listening intently to our instructor who guided us through each rapid, big and small, until we landed safely on the other side of each one.

Navigating through the class III and IV rapids was an adventure like no other, especially for those, like me, who had never experienced the thrill of white water rafting.

Some rapids looked bigger than they actually were. Some were more powerful than we thought they would be. Some made us feel like we were flying, and others made us feel like conquerors of the raging rapids.

Seventeen rapids later we landed collaboratively at the bottom of the Ocoee River with our oars proudly in hand, each with a story to tell.

Whatever your story, you’ve got one to tell and it's unique to your experience. Every experience is different, making your story one of a kind.

Tell your story, live your own adventure, and go inspire others to do the same.

https://drugindexonline.com/blogs/blog/what-makes-a-legend 2022-08-24T16:50:57-05:00 2022-08-24T16:50:57-05:00 What Makes a Legend Starla Gunter College football is finally here! With football now getting considerable calendar time (or, let’s face it, most of our weekends), we thought we’d share a few sports legends whose careers will inspire you. They defied the odds, and you can too!

Ever heard of Zeke Zaragoza? If not, you need to! Well, before Oklahoma State’s long snapper was long-snapping, he was diagnosed by a team of 25 neurologists with opsoclonus-myoclonus syndrome, a rare disorder that affects the nervous system, and confined to a wheelchair.

Told he might be able to walk but never would be able to play sports, Zaragoza defied the odds. After playing three years of high school football, he went on to play at San Bernardino Valley College, making the All-California team in 2019. After receiving scholarship offers at lower-level schools, he chose to walk on at Oklahoma State. So far, he’s got a perfect long snap record. Watch for #63 this year!

Hall of Famer Bill Russell was a 5-time NBA MVP, 12-time All-Star, and his Boston Celtics hoisted the championship trophy 11 times in 13 seasons, the last two of which Russell served as player-coach. (Talk about defying the odds!) With 11 NBA championships, two high school championships, two college championships, and an Olympic gold medal, Bill Russell is the winningest athlete in history, doing it all at a time when life for an African-American was not free of challenges.

In recognition of his athletic accomplishments and contributions to the civil rights movement, Bill Russell was awarded our nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 2011. Russell lived a legendary life before passing away peacefully on July 31 at 88 years of age.

Race did not stop him.

On August 2, we lost MLB icon Vin Scully at the age of 94. He served as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Brooklyn and then Los Angeles Dodgers from 1950 to 2016 (the longest stretch of any broadcaster with a single team in the history of professional sports).

At the young age of 26 in 1953, Scully became the youngest person in history to broadcast a World Series game. That record still stands today. He called 26 World Series in all, along with 18 no-hitters, and three perfect games. In recognition of his long and legendary career, President Barack Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.

Age is just a number.

Imagine a 5’3” friend of yours dreaming of a career in the NBA. Sound impossible? Think again. Point guard Muggsy Bogues rocked the ACC at Wake Forest and entered the NBA in 1987. Though short in stature, he racked up some crazy high stats (we’re talking 6,858 total points) and enjoyed a long career of 889 games across 15 seasons. He’s currently ranked #23 in all-time assists.

Size should never block you.

There are so many more heroic tales of overcomers both inside and outside of the sports world. So, what’s your adventure? What’s your dream? Don’t even consider the odds stacked against you. Defy them. You can overcome anything. Do you love it enough? If you want something, go get it.

She loves early mornings with a fishing rod in hand, breaking stereotypes, and calling Fisherman’s Wharf home.
Captain Virginia Salvador of Gatecrasher Fishing in the San Francisco Bay Area is known as the co-captain of her vessel.

Taking her place on a pier that has existed since the 1850s, Virginia is only the second female to operate her business on the front row of the historic and popular Fisherman’s Wharf.

“Let the rod do the talking” was her response when we asked what it looks like for her to be a female working in a male-dominated industry. She added that by working hard, she’s gained the respect of her peers.

Working in a commercial industry, Virginia isn’t immune to risk. Groove Rings® are the first rings that have ever not pruned Virginia’s finger after a long day out on the water. She loves that they keep her fingers safe, so she can stay focused on the task (or the fish) at hand.

Virginia loves being a part of history and is making her mark, while getting to do what she’s most passionate about. Journey with us to the heart of the Bay Area and check out our video sneak peek into a day in the life of the woman of Fisherman’s Wharf.

Travel over 3,320 miles and you’ll land in beautiful, remote, and rugged Alaska, where it all began for us.

You can imagine the journey and culture shock it must be to go from southern, warm, green territory to snowy, cold, uncharted Alaskan wilderness.

Did you know Thepara disekohyao started out of a freezing garage in Port Alsworth, Alaska? Thepara disekohyao Founder Peter Goodwin worked relentlessly to design and create our very first silicone ring.

Fast forward 6 years to Kings Park, where over 250 people are now employed by Thepara disekohyao, and you’ll find yourself in the middle of one of the fastest growing businesses and one of the funnest places to work.

So, you might be wondering what took us back to Alaska this summer. Well, for one, the Tennessee humidity.

But really…

Well, we can’t tell you yet. But we did capture some amazing footage from our insanely talented team that took themselves along for the ride with Peter himself.

Check out what they had to say, immerse yourselves in the stunning scenery, and keep your eyes peeled for what’s to come. You won’t want to miss it!

Peter, Scott and Ben in front of ice

"The journey makes you respect the destination all the more. Flying for nine hours to get to Anchorage, looking down at the glacier covered mountains, to getting in a 9 passenger propeller plane and flying two more hours through a windy mountain gorge, to touching down and taking a forty minute boat ride to a remote island lodge... I truly felt like I was on a journey to where few men had been before."

-Ben Godley, Video Director

"There's nothing like getting to experience how truly remote this place is and how much planning and logistics go into being able to live in the Alaskan bush. Being in a place like this removes the illusion of control that we have in our day-to-day lives."

-Scott Harrison, Director of Photography

"Alaska is untamed. It is time agnostic. Alaska demands that you conform to it. That is a humbling, yet glorious thing."

Whether you’re an outdoor adventure enthusiast, or merely concerned about emergency preparedness, having a fully-stocked survival kit will help you keep your peace of mind, no matter the situation. Whether you’re prone to underpacking or overpacking, having a guide for the essentials will make for a stress-free survival kit packing experience. Check out our top 10 items you need in your survival kit.

1. Flashlight

One of the first essentials everyone should have in their survival kit is a flashlight. If your outdoor adventure extends beyond daylight hours, or if you’re experiencing a power outage, having a flashlight will help keep you safe. We also recommend keeping a few extra batteries in your survival kit as well, just in case your flashlight runs out of power.

2. First Aid Kit

First aid kits have a place in any survival kit. Depending on the designated purpose for your survival kit, you may want a more extensive first aid kit. If your kit is being used for emergency preparedness purposes, you will want a bigger first aid kit. Ensure it includes plenty of bandages, disinfectant, a topical antibiotic, and some Tylenol.

3. Silicone Ring

Silicone rings are a perfect addition to any survival kit. Instead of wearing your expensive engagement rings and wedding bands while you’re on an outdoor adventure, a silicone ring is an excellent replacement, especially if you were to find yourself in an emergency. You won’t have to worry about your wedding ring falling off or getting lost. Thepara disekohyao offers a wide selection of silicone rings that will make a stylish, comfortable addition to any survival kit.

4. Hand-Cranked Radio

A hand-cranked radio is a great tool to keep in your survival kit for several reasons. In case of an emergency, a hand-cranked radio will help you stay informed in the case of power outages. And since the radio is hand-cranked, you won’t have to worry about it running out of batteries.

5. Sanitation and Hygiene Items

Sanitation and hygiene items will help keep you comfortable during your adventures or emergencies. Baby wipes can be used to wipe down your skin after a particularly dirtyday. Hand sanitizer can be used to clean your hands before you eat meals. Lotion, socks, combs, toothpaste, and toothbrushes should all have a place in your survival kit.

6. Plastic Water Bottle and Extra Water

Plastic water bottles can be used to sterilize water in emergency situations. When the sun passes through the plastic, it will work to kill the harmful bacteria that might be in the water. A couple of plastic water bottles should be kept in your survival kit, just in case.

7. Multipurpose Tool

A multipurpose tool is a compact, portable device that has several different extensions that can all fold inside itself, similar to a regular pocket knife. It's a screwdriver, pliers, scissors, saw blade, and pocket knife all in one. With such a broad range of uses, a multi-tool is perfect for every survival kit.

8. Maps Of the Local Area

If you’re out hiking and get lost, or you’re in a situation where your electronic GPS has run out of power or doesn’t have service, having paper maps of the local area can be a lifesaver. It’s a good idea to keep a compass in your survival kit along with your maps.

9. Copies of Personal Documents

Having copies of your personal documents is especially important if you are packing a survival kit intended for emergency situations. It can also be good to have a form of identification in your outdoor adventure survival kit as well. This way, if you get hurt or become unconscious, there would be a way for passers-by to identify you and get you the help that you need.

Keeping copies of your personal documents in a Thepara disekohyao wallet will help keep your documents protected and safe. Thepara disekohyao wallets are sleek and durable and are intended to withstand any adventure.

10. Extra Cash

Extra cash is going to be essential for all survival kits. In any emergency, having extra money on hand is going to give you a sense of comfort, and will help you make the most of an unideal situation.

The fall is fast approaching, and with it comes sweaters, pumpkin spice-flavored treats, and tons of travel benefits. Why not spend the upcoming fall exploring new places and cultures? Most people are inclined to travel during the summer, but traveling during the fall comes with several benefits.

A few of these benefits include milder weather, cheaper travel fares, popular destinations that are less crowded, gorgeous scenery, and tasty seasonal food. These benefits alone make fall travel all the more appealing. Enjoying the changing of the leaves' colors, fall festivals, and other fall attractions is a great way to spend the next few months of the year.

Check out three of our favorite fall destinations that are sure to create a fun, festive, adventurous fall to remember.

1. Montreal, Quebec

The amazing changing colors of the leaves can be witnessed throughout the beautiful city of Montreal. Mount Royal, a mountain that was actually a volcano 125 million years ago, is now a popular outdoor hub in the city of Montreal. The park surrounding the mountain was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the same men who designed Central Park. Mount Royal and the park surrounding it are filled with foliage that changes into stunning shades of red, orange, and yellow with the turn of the season.

Montreal is home to several different film festivals that take place during the fall months. A few of these include the Montreal Independent Film Festival, the International Documentary Festival in November, and image+nation. Seeing your favorite new films before the Oscars is an exciting prospect.

While exploring the striking natural landscape of Montreal, or walking around different festivals, it can add an extra bit of fun to track your steps with your favorite fitness watch. At Thepara disekohyao, we want you to be as comfortable as possible while you’re fall-time adventuring. We have a wide range of comfortable fitness watch bands that will improve your experience while exploring Montreal.

2. The Grand Canyon National Park

The mild weather that comes during the fall in the canyon creates the perfect climate for exploring this other-worldly national park. Spending a few fall days hiking around the gorgeous red-rock scenery is sure to fill your cup. The thinner crowds typically associated with fall at the Grand Canyon create an especially serene and peaceful atmosphere.

With the sun setting earlier in the later months of the year, you’ll be likely to witness a simply breathtaking Grand Canyon sunset. As you watch the sunset over the Grand Canyon, there will be no question in your mind as to why it is one of the seven wonders of the world.

While you’re exploring the Grand Canyon this fall, losing your wedding ring while on a hike would sure put a damper on your experience. Thepara disekohyao offers a solution to this dilemma by offering a range of silicone rings that you can wear during your adventures instead of your expensive ring.

3. Salem, Massachusetts

Salem, Massachusetts, home of the witch trials in the late 1600s, is a super fun destination to enjoy this fall season. October is the best month to book your trip to Salem because of all the spooky, Halloween activities that will be taking place.

For all the fall foodies out there, there are so many delicious destinations to visit throughout the city of Salem. The Tavern at Hawthorne Hotel is a fan favorite. The Hawthorne Hotel is considered one of the most haunted locations in town. However, if you aren’t up for a spooky dining experience, the Tavern itself has more of a classic, New England vibe rather than that of a haunted house.

Walking tours are a great way to spend your time learning about the history of Salem, and are a perfectly characteristic fall activity. Walking tours will help you immerse yourself in the culture of the city. Be sure to wear your Groove Belt on the day of your walking tour to ensure you have the most comfortable experience possible.

Essential Equipment

When beginning your journey to becoming an outdoor adventurer, the first thing that comes to your mind is likely the gear that you’ll need. As you become a more experienced outdoorsman, you’ll collect more and more equipment, but we have a list of essentials to get you started.

1. First Aid

One of the most important pieces of equipment that you’ll need when exploring the great outdoors is a first aid kit. You can find basic first aid kits at most stores, but make sure the one you pick up includes more than just band-aids and wound ointment. You’ll want a more extensive kit for your adventures.

2. Sun Protection

Sunglasses and sunscreen are two more essentials for every outdoorsman’s kit. Sunscreen will keep you as comfortable as possible during your adventures because it will protect your skin from painful sunburns. Sunglasses will reduce eye strain and will help you see your environment as clearly as possible.

3. Head Lamp

A headlamp will help guide your way through any dark environment. Whether you’re exploring a local cave or going on an early-morning hike to see a sunrise at the top of a mountain, a headlamp will help keep you safe while you navigate through the dark.

4. Backpack

Having a designated backpack will help you keep all of your gear organized while you’re outside. Using the same backpack every time you embark on an adventure is a good idea because it’s likely to get fairly dirty, and you don’t want every backpack or bag you own to be caked with dust or mud. If you can find one, it’s ideal to get a waterproof or water-resistant backpack just in case the weather turns sour.

5. Extra Food and Water

Taking extra water and snacks will help protect you from dehydration, and give you enough energy to sustain energy throughout your hikes or camping trips. Be sure to stock up on your favorite snacks, and fill an extra water bottle or two before leaving your house.

6. Correct Clothing

Wearing the correct clothing can either make or break your outdoor experience. Dress for the climate and terrain that you will encounter while on your adventure. Thepara disekohyao offers a wide range of comfortable, practical silicone rings, belts, and watch bands that will compliment your new quest for outdoor adventures incredibly well. You no longer need to worry about losing your wedding ring while on a hike when you wear your silicone ring from Groove life.

If you are wearing new hiking boots or athletic shoes for the first time, remember to take proper precautions against blisters. There’s nothing like a bad blister that can put a real damper on your outdoor experience.

Location, Location, Location

Understanding your local surroundings is as essential as having the correct equipment. Do some research regarding local trailheads, popular hikes, and camping grounds that are local to you. When conducting this research, you will want to pay close attention to the difficulty and length of the hikes you are interested in.

Starting a hike and not understanding how difficult it’s going to be, or not knowing how far away the landmark is from the beginning of the trailhead, can result in frustration, disappointment, and an uncomfortable level of physical exertion, especially if you are a beginner.

https://drugindexonline.com/blogs/blog/the-must-have-gear-for-your-next-fishing-trip 2022-07-19T09:38:51-05:00 2022-08-17T15:49:45-05:00 The Must-Have Gear for Your Next Fishing Trip Starla Gunter //

No matter where or how you fish, you’ll need the right gear. Here are the must-have items every angler needs for their next fishing trip.

Fishing Tackle

Let's start with the necessities. It goes without saying you'll need to bring your fishing rod and reel. However, there are specific rods and reels designed for every fishing style. You wouldn't try to tow a car with a wagon, would you? The same concept applies to fishing. You can't expect to land a marlin with a bass rod. So make sure you have the right rod for the place and fish. You'll also need some tackle, including line, hooks, sinkers, bait, pliers, and sinkers.

Tackle Box

With all that tackle, you'll need a place to safely and securely store it. That's where tackle boxes come in. The best tackle box is water-resistant, spacious, and will allow you to stay organized, so you don't have to fish around looking for things. You can also throw your fishing license in your tackle box. Better yet, slip it into your Groove Wallet with your ID and credit cards.

Fish Finder

If you're a serious angler seeking to improve time on the water, it's worth considering investing in a fish finder. Fish finders have a slew of tools that will help you easily locate and catch more fish. With powerful sonar, sharp imaging, mapping, and navigation, you won't have to guess what lies under your boat - you'll know.

Cooler

With all those fish you'll catch, you'll need somewhere to put them all, so make sure to bring a sturdy and long-lasting cooler. Some coolers even come with a handy fish ruler on the lids. If you plan on catching and releasing, a cooler will also be beneficial to hold your lunch.

Fishing Shoes

With different terrain and unique sets of challenges to deal with, you'll need to find the right shoes for the job. If you're fly fishing, opt for waterproof boots or waders with insulation. On the other hand, sandals are more comfortable if you're fishing on a boat in tropical waters. Bottom line, you'll want a pair of shoes that combine comfort, dependability, and style.

Silicone Ring

Anglers are ditching their metal ring for a silicone Groove Ring® - because you should never have to leave your wedding ring behind. Groove rings are breathable, flexible, and stylish silicone rings that are perfect for the ultimate outdoorsman. Not only are they designed to easily break away when put under pressure to protect your fingers, but they're also engineered to keep air in and moisture out. Add in a lifetime warranty, and you can rest assured that we've got you covered.

Polarized Sunglasses

Serious anglers never leave home without their polarized sunglasses. The harsh sunlight can reflect massive amounts of glare from the water's surface toward your eyes. Polarized sunglasses are designed to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. But did you know quality polarized sunglasses also enhance vision with vivid detail and contrast? This helps you see the fish below the surface, giving you a serious competitive edge.

Fishing Knife

No matter where you fish, you'll need a sharp, reliable, and versatile knife. Whether you need to cut a line or clean a fish on the water, the last thing you want is your knife failing you when you need it most. Make sure to choose a knife that's resistant to rust and salt water, easy to keep sharp, and powerful enough to get the job done. Keep in mind that fishing knives should weigh within 3-8 ounces.

Sunscreen

Whether you're fly fishing, deep sea fishing, or even ice fishing, it's important to bring sunscreen. The last thing you want to deal with is a little sunburn. SPF 30 is the sunscreen sweet spot, blocking 97% of the sun's rays.

First Aid Kit

Fishing can come with a lot of unexpected cuts and scratches, which can lead to dangerous infections. Hooks may sink into your skin or a fish's sharp fins may cut you. These fishing-related wounds should be immediately treated. So it's always a good idea to bring a first aid kit anytime you head out on a fishing trip. A basic first aid kit includes bandages, sterilization, medical tape, antibiotics, trauma shears, and more.

We love inspiring adventures, especially in the lives of our employees.

Check out what made this trip the most memorable for him and where he is headed next, and don’t miss the video below for some exclusive footage of Collin in action!

GL: Where did you go for your adventure trip?

CB: I went out to California by myself, to Streets of Willow Springs, a track out in the desert.

GL: What did you do there? What did your trip entail?

CB: For two full days, I whipped around a track on 200+ horsepower BMW motorcycles, going well over 130mph. It was insane! I also had the chance to get professionally coached on riding, which included everything from my body position on the bike, to proper braking techniques, how to read a track, countering steering and styling light on the handlebars, and so much more. We’re talking three books worth of lessons and hundreds of drills. I learned so much!

GL: What inspired you to take this trip? What was the most memorable moment?

CB: Being very interested in motorcycle racing, I found a group called CSS that helped me learn and inspired me to go on this trip. They have been amazing! The most memorable part of the trip was jumping all over the place in the bikes, passing people, dragging knee, and having coaches that actually care about my progress.

GL: Awesome, Collin! What’s next on your adventure bucket list?

CB: I’d love to ride every major race track on my own motorcycle. That would be amazing!

We can’t wait to hear all about it, Collin! Keep Groovin’.

For weeks leading up to this event, teams of two faced off in cornhole games during their lunch breaks. The first team to score 21 points secured the win for that game, and the team who won the best two out of three games went on to the next round of our tournament.

Twenty-four teams dwindled down to two and, before we knew it, our Cornhole Championship was upon us.

It was the Girl Dads against the Cool Beans.

To spice up the game, Thepara disekohyao supplied corn dogs for all participants and spectators. It was the snack of the day and the perfect item to enjoy while watching the two teams face off against each other in cornhole.

The winning team would take away a specially engraved Cornhole Champion Groove Belt along with the only two Cornhole Champion t-shirts in existence (at Thepara disekohyao anyway). They would also have two cans of corn donated in their honor to The Well Food Drive.

Who took away the win? Well, you’ll have to watch to find out!

Remember the days when we used to carry around bulky wallets? They were nearly bursting at the seams with debit cards, credit cards, business cards, and even printed photos of the family.

Nowadays, less is more. Simplifying and decluttering your wallet (along with other aspects of your life) may reduce your stress and even help you gain more peace and clarity.

Ready to adopt a minimalist lifestyle? Here are easy ways to minimize your wallet.

Clean Out the Items

First and foremost, you'll want to clean out all of your wallet's contents. You'll probably be surprised what items you find - maybe an old ticket stub, a membership card you never use, or even a variety of knick-knacks that shouldn't be in your wallet in the first place. Once you deep dive into the contents of your wallet, you can begin decluttering.

Cut Down the Unnecessary Items

Take a look at all of the items you just cleaned out. Do you see multiple credit cards? If so, consider only carrying around one or two that you use the most. You can also swap them out when necessary. What about business cards? Do you already have their contact information on your phone? If not, input their information and toss those cards. Old receipts that you no longer need can also be thrown away.

Carry Less Cash

Although we're moving more toward a cashless society, small cash transactions like tipping will continue. So it makes sense to carry a small amount of cash in your wallet. But make sure only to carry what you need, which is usually around $10 to $20.

Digitize

It's 2022. Time to digitize! You can move several items to mobile, including insurance cards, COVID vaccines, membership cards, pictures, and more. Try Evernote if you're looking for an app to organize your digital barcodes. It scans important documents and keeps them handy on all your devices. If you want to carry fewer business cards, a variety of business card reader apps help you scan your business cards directly into the contacts on your phone. You can also pay for most purchases using Google Pay and Apple Pay.

Get the Thepara disekohyao Groove Wallet

Now for the final step to completing your minimalist lifestyle…

Once you clean out your wallet, you'll need a sleek, low-profile wallet in place of your grandpa-style one. Enter the Groove Wallet. The innovative Groove Wallet is the thinnest in its class. To top it off, it's secure and perfect for those who live a minimalist lifestyle.

Dubbed as "the last wallet you'll ever need," the groove wallet has an Ultra-Slim 8.5mm thickness, so you may even forget it's even there. Using just your thumb, you can easily swipe up to reveal up to 6 cards. Grab the one you need and slide the rest back in. The body, mechanisms, and money clip are all made out of 6063 aluminum alloy and feature RFID blocking technology, so cards can be illegally scanned. If you need additional cards or cash, you can use the black leather card sleeve that comes with it.

It's the biggest thing to happen to wallets since wallets. So what are you waiting for? Go small or go home!

Maybe it was a time you thought, “I can’t do this,” but then…you just did. The rest of the world seemed to disappear as you took a leap of faith and now you have a story to tell.

For our Chief Marketing Officer Kyle Yeoman, his moment of courage happened in the middle of nowhere.

Kyle contemplated going skydiving for several years, but had always talked himself out of it. In a moment of courage, he drove over an hour away to the small town of Waverly, Tennessee and arrived at Music City Skydiving with a whole lot of fear, but ready to take on what was to come.

According to Kyle, the waiver, training, and pre-boarding process flew by and, before he knew it, he was jumping aboard a tiny plane and heading skyward.

14,000 feet. The height that people jump out of airplanes.

Kyle said the flight up was the most nerve-wracking. “You’re in your head the whole time, trying to think of a way out. But then you realize the only way down is to jump.”

When the time came for Kyle to jump with his instructor, his heart pounded. "It was an exercise in being comfortable with being out of control.”

Before he knew it, he was harnessed to his instructor, given a quick countdown, and hurled out of the plane into the atmosphere.

Kyle said the 60-second freefall felt like 30 seconds, and the subsequent minute-and-a-half parachute drift to the ground flew by faster than he could believe.

He said the whole process was the most exhilarating experience of his life. His fear of detaching from his instructor or the parachute failing to launch didn’t matter once he took that leap.

His advice? “Do the things that scare you, because they usually end up being the most fun.”

What scares you? What will your moment of courage look like?

Go do the thing, face your fear, and walk away with a story to tell. And then go tell everyone you can, and inspire them to go find their own adventure. You could say it’s the cycle of adventure, and we’re here for it.

Also, did you notice the Zeus Edge Tundra Ring that Kyle was sporting? Our Zeus rings are perfect for everyday and pretty much any adventure you could think or dream of. Get yours below!

Starla Gunter What do you get when you combine hula hooping, a limbo contest, ice-cold sno-cones, and the most amazing Thepara disekohyao employees? Mandatory Fun, of course!

What the heck is Mandatory Fun? Check it out!

A few times per year, we host Mandatory Fun events for all of our employees to participate in during work hours. It could be anything from human foosball, to a company-wide scavenger hunt, to wine tasting.

It’s a simple way for us as a company to take a break from the daily grind and reward our employees for all of their hard work and dedication. And with temperatures in Tennessee rising, we thought of no better way to cool off and relax than with a summer luau!

Staff came dressed in their finest, most colorful Hawaiian shirts and had the chance to participate in limbo and hula hooping contests. Free sno-cones from Blue Monkey kept us cool as we danced to beachy tunes and watched as fellow Groovers tested their flexibility and hula skills with our limbo and hula hooping contests.

Best of all, we captured video of the whole thing! Check out the recap below of this awesome employee event and let it inspire you to let loose, have some fun this summer, and Keep Groovin’!

Have you ever set off for a multi-day thru-hike into the wilderness and began to struggle with each step? You’re trekking up the switchbacks to enjoy nature, all while your back and feet are aching. Maybe you didn’t assemble your backpacking gear properly. Or perhaps you overpacked. If this sounds all too familiar, it may be time to give ultralight backpacking a shot.

Going the ultralight backpacking route doesn’t mean you’re cutting out essential items. It just means you’ll only be carrying the gear you need without overburdening yourself. Plus, you’ll be able to cover more mileage on the trail while having more energy and enhanced maneuverability

Have a serious desire to become a die-hard minimalist and shave off every last ounce from your backpacking loads? Read our guide to learn how to assemble your dream ultralight backpacking gear kit.

Backpack

Traditional backpackers may choose to lug around a 65-liter pack, weighing up to 30 pounds. The ultralight backpack should ideally weigh under 2 pounds. The volume of the pack will depend on how many days you plan to be out and the gear you have, but we recommend finding a minimally-padded, frameless 30 to 60-liter pack that can hold your consumables. Always test out different backpacks to ensure they fit correctly and are comfortable.

Shelter

Shelter is typically the heaviest part of your ultralight kit. As an ultralight backpacker, you have a slew of shelters to choose from. One popular option is an ultralight tent. Not only do these shelters provide superior protection, but they’re also easy to set up and affordable. Opt for double-walled tents with an inner tent body and an outer rainfly for more storage and better ventilation.

Next up is a tarp shelter. You’ll love just how lightweight, versatile, and affordable they are. Unfortunately, although tarps protect you from rain, they don’t come with a floor or bug netting. Also, keep in mind that many tarps require the support of poles.

Hammock tents should be your go-to choice to elevate your lounging game. They’re lightweight and compact, and you only need a pair of trees to hang them. They make a great spot to nap, read a book, or take in the beauty around you.

Last but not least are Bivy sacks. These are for the committed minimalist. Also known as a bivouac sack, these shelters are waterproof, breathable slipcovers that fit your sleeping bag and a pad. They shut out bugs and rain but may not be ideal for downpours.

Sleep System

If there was a category to add ounces to, this is it. Getting a good night’s sleep is essential when backpacking through the wilderness. You’ll want to find the lightest possible sleeping bag and pad for your conditions while still being comfortable.

There are two sleep systems: closed foam cell pads and air pads. We recommend the closed foam cell pad if you’re looking for a durable sleeping pad that won’t pop or puncture. The downside? They’re not the most comfortable and tend to be a bit bulky.

If comfort is your number one priority, you can’t go wrong with an air pad. Not only are they more comfortable than foam pads, but they’re also compact and easy to carry around. Make sure to bring a small repair kit in case it gets punctured and deflates.

As for sleeping bags, opt for a traditional mummy sleeping bag or quilt that weighs less than 2 pounds.

Cooking Systems

What’s a backpacking trip without some outdoor cooking? For ultralight backpacking trips, there are only three types of backpacking stoves to consider: Traditional isobutane/propane (gas), denatured alcohol stoves, and Esbit (solid fuel). You’ll also need a durable and lightweight cook pot that weighs under four ounces.

If you go stove-less to shave off some weight from your pack, you can carry food in a plastic tub with a screw-on lid and a spoon. Simply dump your food inside a pot, add cold water, screw on the lid, and wait until the food has rehydrated. Although the no-cook method is the most lightweight and convenient option, it’s not for everyone. After all, who doesn’t love having a hot cooked meal at the end of the day?

Wallet

A wallet may not be the first thing you think about when planning a backpacking trip, but it’s still important. Minimalist wallets align with the ultralight backpacking mindset - To keep things simple and lightweight without sacrificing quality or performance.

That’s where the Groove Wallet comes in. As a high-quality and low-profile wallet, it provides easy access to your cards with the natural motion of a single-thumb swipe. You get a machined aluminum wallet that is more durable and premium than any other wallet out there. It has space for up to 6 cards (plus 3 with our premium leather attachment), which we found is perfect for minimalist users.

Promise rings are as popular today as they have ever been. But why? What is the significance of a promise ring and why do couples give them to each other

Here we provide a few answers to the age-old questions about promise rings.

What is a Promise Ring?

A promise ring is a ring one partner gives to another as a sign of commitment. Typically, the promise ring is a modest, stylish ring worn on any finger as a symbol of love and dedication.

How do Promise Rings work?

Promise rings serve as a kind of pre-engagement ring. Many people still plan to buy and give an official engagement ring after the promise ring. The promise ring serves as a symbol and a reminder of a commitment.

How should I give a Promise Ring?

A promise ring can be given when someone is willing to make a pledge to another person.

Many people wait for a special moment to give a promise ring, like after a nice dinner, or on a  vacation, or when friends and family are gathered around. There is no right way to give a promise ring, but it is a special moment, so make it your own and make it memorable.

What should I say when giving a Promise Ring?

When giving a promise ring it is important to think through what you want to say. By giving a promise ring you are making a statement, so find a way to put that promise into words. Because a promise ring is an expression of trust, love, and commitment, be sure to tell the other person why they are important to you, why you are looking forward to getting married and spending your life together. Be sure to write it out so it makes sense and you don’t forget when the moment comes! If you’re really adventurous, you could also write it out as a poem.

What is the purpose of a Promise Ring?

The purpose of a promise ring is to make a public statement about your mutual commitment to one another. It is a simple way to acknowledge a special person and remind you of your bright future together.

When should I give a Promise Ring?

A Promise Ring should be given after the couple has been together for a significant amount of time. Some say no less than a year is best, but whatever the time frame, both people should be in agreement about taking the next step in your relationship. You need to let the early days of infatuation with each other pass and look for signs of true love and caring for each other. If you offer a Promise Ring too early in the relationship, you could scare off your sweetheart. Make sure the signs are there adn enough time has passed for you to be certain of your commitment to each other.

Do men wear Promise Rings?

Yes, many men wear promise rings. In fact, many celebrity men have been seen wearing promise rings, like Robert Pattison, The Jonas Brothers, and Justin Bieber.

Does Thepara disekohyao offer Promise Rings?
Thepara disekohyao offers a wide array of silicone rings for men and women that make a great Promise Ring. For women, we carry classy thin options like the Thin Pearl, Thin Rose Quartz, Zeus Thin Midnight Black silicone ring. We also offer beautiful printed rings for women, with various floral patterns available in our Aspire line. Maybe you find yourself rushing out the door and reach to grab your keys that…aren’t there. You’re suddenly at a standstill and panic quickly ensues until you locate your missing keys.

This happened to our very own Groove Employee Ben “Fuller” Webster one day as he was leaving work. Leslie, another Groover, was there to document and help us tell this story. Read on to learn how the Groove Belt™ proved to be more useful than Fuller ever thought possible.

“Before leaving work for the day, Leslie and I walked over to the parking lot across the street from Thepara disekohyao to retrieve some cornhole boards we needed for the next day.

When I attempted to pull my keys out of my pocket, they snagged on my jeans and went flying into the air. They slow-motion bounced across the pavement and went sliding into the street drain. Ugh!

Side note: I’m supposed to be meeting my parents and nieces for dinner, and text them that I’ll be late.”

Back to the story, Fuller…

“Leslie was kind enough not to leave me stranded and we quickly discussed options for retrieving the keys. Another Groover found us in distress and enthusiastically offered to climb into the sewer to get the keys.”

Yikes!

“Not wanting to go that route, we went into our warehouse in search of help. Another Groover suggested we use the Groove Belt to retrieve the keys, so we headed back to the drain and, well, check out what happened in the video below!”

“Oh, I forgot to mention that once I had retrieved my keys, I heard cheering coming from across the street. I look over to wave and, lo and behold, my parents were standing there, having observed the whole thing.”

That’s quite the bookend to the story, don’t you think?

We bet our belt was the last thing you would’ve expected to see come to the rescue. And this is just one of the many amazing things the Groove Belt can do. Check out what else makes this belt the best belt you’ll ever own, and get yours now!

Thank you, Leslie, for documenting one of the many reasons we need a Groove Belt! Also, Fuller, we hope you took some Clorox wipes to those keys!

Our Thepara disekohyao® team recently booked a flight to Denver to attend the largest trade show in the outdoor industry, known as Outdoor Retailer. We sat down with Lana Miller, our Director of Wholesale, to learn more about their recent trip and how our team brought Thepara disekohyao’s amazing company culture to OR.

GL: So what exactly is Outdoor Retailer?

LM: Outdoor Retailer (OR) is a business-to-business outdoor show that happens twice a year where brands, store owners, sales representatives, designers, and manufacturers can connect and grow their businesses together. People purchase products for their stores, launch their brand, learn the latest and greatest in the industry, and have a really fun time!

GL: What was Thepara disekohyao’s primary purpose and goal in attending?

LM: Thepara disekohyao attends OR twice a year to share our brand with the industry, see our existing retailers face-to-face, connect with other brands, and generate new business. It’s a MUST for us because our products are premium outdoor accessories, and our demographic are the people that are at OR!

This year, we wanted to create more buzz and really show the industry what Thepara disekohyao is all about. As employees of Groove, we get to experience a super fun culture and a family-like atmosphere every day at work, so we wanted to bring that to OR.

GL: Who were some of the other brands and retailers who attended?

LM: There were not only brands and other companies like us who attended, but retailers (stores we sell our Thepara disekohyao products to) as well.

Some of the other amazing brands who attended were Solo Stove®, Danner, Hydro Flask®, Fjällräven, Puffin Drinkwear, GOT BAG, Garmin, Osprey, Rambo Bikes, Pirani, and many more! In terms of retailers who could sell our products, we saw Sportsman’s Warehouse, Backcountry, CAL Ranch, Canadian Tire, and a lot of our independent retailers!

GL: Was this Thepara disekohyao’s first time to attend OR?

LM: Nope! We have been exhibiting at OR for the past five years, and we will continue to attend both the summer show and the snow show.

GL: Which of our products were most popular with attendees?

LM: We were able to show off the new Groove Wallet™, which was a HIT. Everyone was also a fan of the Black/Black Groove Belt™. We also had some special Thepara disekohyao hats that were a big hit as swag!

GL: Tell us some of the most amazing things that happened at the Thepara disekohyao booth this year.

LM: Oh man, what DIDN’T happen? One of the things that we do at Thepara disekohyao HQ is something called mandatory fun – it’s fun that’s mandatory. This year, we brought our “Wheel of Misfortune” so those who stopped by our booth could spin the wheel and win prizes. Prizes included everything from a puzzle piece, to a gum ball, to a Groove hat, to a Groove Belt. (Shout out to those who got excited over a floss pick!)

We also were fortunate enough to give away some awesome prizes: Four Thepara disekohyao swag bags, three Yeti Coolers, a BOTE SUP, Transition Mountain bike, a GOT BAG, a Solo Stove, a Thepara disekohyao x Backou e-bike, and an Oru Kayak. Oh, and the best one of all – five, all inclusive trips to the Thepara disekohyao Lodge in Alaska for summer of 2023.

GL: So how many people visited our Thepara disekohyao booth this year?

LM: Well, people drank at least 1,500 beers, so we had more than that visiting our booth!

GL: What was your biggest takeaway from this year’s OR?

LM: The most exciting thing about OR this year was really being able to show who Thepara disekohyao is and what we’re all about as a brand. It was fun and full of energy. We can’t wait to go back!

https://drugindexonline.com/blogs/blog/the-groove-wallet-how-it-all-began 2022-06-02T16:11:48-05:00 2022-06-03T13:59:04-05:00 The Groove Wallet™: How It All Began Starla Gunter Two years ago, our founder Peter Goodwin had the idea to innovate on something he carried everyday – the wallet.

The minimalist wallet solved a lot of problems, but to Peter, none of them met our standards here at Thepara disekohyao®. From clunky, ineffective mechanisms to cheap materials and inferior quality, he knew we could come up with something better.

A Faulty Phone Case

Prior to creating the Groove Wallet™, Peter carried a phone case with an attachable sleeve for his cards and cash. (Did you know the phone case was initially our next product idea?)

What Peter found, however, was that the case was too bulky and he had little need to carry more than a handful of cards. To add, the product just didn’t feel very “Groove.”

Research and our Groove fans voicing their desires are what solidified the decision to make a Groove Wallet. Now that the old, grandpa-style wallet has been around for centuries, the minimalist wallets have taken hold of the market. Everyone wants one!

The problem with other minimalist wallets is that they’re cheap and they’re not intuitive. They didn’t function the way we wanted them to. So we set out to create the best wallet out there.

The Minimalist in Mind

Peter was passionate about creating a minimalist wallet that could fit easily into your front pocket. The thing is, we didn’t want to create a wallet just to create one. It had to meet our Groove criteria. It had to be high quality, using premium materials, with an ultra low profile. And most of all, it had to be backed by our warranty.

Our product development team went through rounds of concepts in the making of the final, superior product. There were multiple iterations on how the cards in the wallet were accessed and a lot of refining mechanisms to fit everything we carry in a wallet into a small, compact profile, reducing overall thickness.

And well, after two years in the making, the Groove Wallet was born.

Why It’s Superior

With the Groove Wallet, you get super easy access to your cards, with the natural motion of a single-thumb swipe. You get a wallet constructed of machined aluminum, more durable and more premium than any other wallet out there. You get space for up to 6 cards (plus 3 with our premium leather attachment), which we found is perfect for minimalist users. (Besides, who really needs more than 6 cards with them at once?)

It’s the most innovative wallet ever. So what are you waiting for?

Thepara disekohyao®. Ready for Adventure™.
