What are Peridin-C (bioflavonoids)?

Bioflavonoids are found in the rind of green citrus fruits and in rose hips and black currants.

There is no established need for bioflavonoids in human nutrition. Bioflavonoids have been used historically in a variety of disease states including Rheumatic fever, habitual abortion, poliomyelitis, prevention of bleeding, rheumatoid arthritis, periodontal disease, diabetic retinitis, and others.

Bioflavonoids may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

What is the most important information I should know about Peridin-C (bioflavonoids)?

Do not take more bioflavonoids than is directed by your doctor or on the package.

What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Peridin-C (bioflavonoids)?

Before taking bioflavonoids, talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or health care professional if you have any other medical conditions, allergies, or if you take other medicines or other herbal/health supplements.

Do not take bioflavonoids without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. It is not known whether bioflavonoids will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take bioflavonoids without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. It is not known whether bioflavonoids will be harmful to a nursing infant.

How should I take Peridin-C (bioflavonoids)?

Take bioflavonoids exactly as directed by your doctor or as directed on the package. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.

Swallow each nonchewable dose (tablets and capsules) with a full glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the sustained-release formulations of bioflavonoids, swallow them whole. These are specially formulated to release slowly into the body. Do not take more bioflavonoids than is directed by your doctor or on the package. Store bioflavonoids at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

What happens if I miss a dose?

No information is available regarding a missed dose of bioflavonoids. Consult your doctor, pharmacist, or health care professional if you require further information.

What happens if I overdose?

No information is available regarding an overdose of bioflavonoids. Consult a poison control center or an emergency room if you require further information. Symptoms of a bioflavonoids overdose are not known.

Peridin-C (bioflavonoids) side effects

Stop taking bioflavonoids and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives).

No other side effects have been reported with the use of bioflavonoids. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
