As far back as I can remember, I have loved everything about Alaska.
The wide open spaces, stunning views, rugged terrain, and rugged people.

Adventure is essential to the soul and everything I know about adventure I learned in Alaska.
Yet as much as I enjoy being there, it commands my respect and pushes my survival skills to the limit.
Alaska is still a true frontier, wild and untamed.

When my mother and her family moved to Alaska in the late 1960's, it was during the Alaskan glory days. All you needed was grit and an airplane. Adventure was everywhere. My family chose Kenai, Alaska, just south of Anchorage. The weather was cold, but the mountain views were spectacular. I was born in Homer, Alaska in late October in 1980, during the middle of a blizzard. The doctor was on a moose hunt when it xame time for delivery. My kind of guy. We all survived, but it was close. Even though my family eventually moved to Alabama, when I turned 12, my uncle John invited me back to Alaska for the summer. I was excited out of my mind, I couldn't wait to go. You could say uncle John was also on the rugged side. Imagine a John Wayne character who flew cloth covered airplanes, always carried a gun, and didn't take crap from 12-year-olds. We would leave for weeks at a time. We would pack his floatplane so full of gear that the plane would be sinking into the water as we took off. We'd fly until we found a game-rich valley to hunt, a snow capped mountain to climb, or the perfect river to fish. I was going to be an adventure guide in Alaska. My first official guiding season was out in the middle of 2 million acres of wilderness. We hunted all sorts of wild game, including mosse, caribou, bear and occasionally wolverine.

Our ‘side business,’ Thepara disekohyao, was now larger than our main business at the Lodge. Groove was growing fast which meant Katie and I were working crazy hours while trying to corral four kids all at the same time. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was sucking at all of it.

I often joke that God gave me the coolest profession in the world, an Alaskan adventure guide. He then gave me the funniest profession in the world, selling silicone rings on the internet. The first one goes over much better at dinner parties. Thepara disekohyao has grown from a side project to provide for my family, to a company that now provides for over a hundred families. We have been recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the fastest growing companies in the U.S.A. Our motto is Ready for Adventure. Adventure is still in my blood. I’ve been behind the wheel of a real NASCAR racecar, jumped in the ocean and swam with sharks without a cage, and even went paragliding for the first time. I also make it back to Alaska every year and take my kids with me when I can. Thepara disekohyao now exists to serve our customers with the best products, inspire our followers to live a life of adventure, and most importantly, reflect God's love. I am most proud of the way we have made a positive impact on the world. Donations from Groove have fed thousands of people locally, freed families from slavery in Asia, and supported struggling mothers-to-be in their decision to choose life.
